One of the best parts of a holiday celebration is the food, and The Salvation Army wishes to challenge local eateries to provide up to 400 meals on various holidays and cultural celebration days throughout the year to our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Mexican restaurant Viva Zapata’s has provided hundreds of meals on Cinco De Mayo and Mexican Independence Day for guests of our daily community meal on our Owens Campus. Not only is the food amazing, but entertainment has been provided and our dining room decorated, creating a fun celebration and an even greater community atmosphere.
Available holidays to celebrate:
February 21 – Mardi Gras
March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day
July 1 – Canada Day
July 14 – Bastille Day
August 18 – Hawaii Day
September 22 – Native American Day
October 3 – Oktoberfest
November 12 – Diwali
December 7 - Hanukkah
For many of our guests, this may be their only meal of the day, and any local eatery that accepts this challenge can help neighbors who’ve fallen on hard times feel loved and valued.
